And More Bugs…
Oh, you fucking little bugs
You stupid little nugs
I really hate you flying around
Unceasingly buzzing with a hideous sound
On our hike, you buzzed mercilessly
And I swatted never could I see
You were unrelenting, never to stop
Until I came hard with a strong pop
I don’t think I ever really knew
What could ever be so strewed
Until I walked down among the trees
Then you cunningly came with the breeze
We went journeying through
Through the rivers and trees covered with dew
Then with a sudden jerk of the head
I saw the swarm of gnats and stopped dead
But creepily they came back with force
All surrounding us in our remorse
Flooding us with their filth
Never stopping in their dirty tilth
The river trail we did take
As we saw the beauty as the sun did bake
And the beauty took our breath away
But then you came up behind, always to stay
Millions and thousands of hordes
Came flying and buzzing like swords
Into our ears and hair and beards did nest
Their favorite tributes of their enemy’s best
Crawling inside our brains
They spit and sat and made their domains
Our ears became their own caves
As they brought in the sick and lay them in graves
The young bugs and old and alike
All took up shop in my eyes shining light
Hunger and warmth they did desire
Even if it meant being warmed up in my heart’s fire
The lame and diseased took refuge in the intestines
Making hospitals and beds for all the contestants
Checking their vitals all through the night
Being by their bedside in the lumen-light
After they have recovered, the King will lay bare
And all the peasants will gather, elders shall declare
“Hospitality and Victory are in our grasp!”
“Let us all come together and hold fast!”
The Gnats of Bug City will shout out defiant
“Glory to our land!” as the small one says next to the giant
They will journey through conquering every store
Inside my weakened heart that is now infested like a whore
Descend, they must, down the darkened tunnel
Peeking around little crevices and through every funnel
Crawling with their yucky claws, vomiting all over
Down into my heart making a home for a lover
My whole body filling with dirtied gnats
Shall shake and throttle my bones like tree saps
My heart covered with blackness like no other
Shall stop and no longer beat next to my brother
I shall choke and sway around never to return
This time next month we hike by the sun as we burn
We come back running to our car
Evading your terrible aura again as we scar
And we fall fast on our feet as they hurts
We take off our shoes and see all our worts
For ages on, never been the same as we tread
Homeward, back to our own comfortable bed
